Cochin offers unbeatable advantages for the
IT Sector.
It is rich in bandwidth. Cochin's VSNL Gateway has 15 Gbps
capacity as well as a GSR for high speed transmission.
This Gateway Exchange has both Satellite and Submarine Cable
links. Both "SEA-ME-WE3" and "SAFE" International sub-sea cables
have landing points in Cochin. This provides direct connectivity
to 69 countries.
Cochin has therefore, the cheapest bandwidth in India.
VSNL, is an international telecommunications
service provider, and they offers international telephony, IPLCs,
Internet services, frame relay services and all other managed
data services, and Inmarsat services.
VSNL, Cochin is less than 1 km away from the Zone as the crow
flies. VSNL operates a facility in the Zone, offering global
connectivity support to Zone units through OFC at low entry
costs.
The Zone provides power from 25 MVA substation through
underground cables and RMUs. The power is sourced from two 110
KV systems that form the power system backbone of Kerala, so
that not only is the power of good quality, it is reliable to a
large degree.
NASSCOM has rated Cochin among the top two
locations in India for bandwidth-intensive, IT Enabled
Services.
Trained manpower is available in Cochin at
40% of the wages rate in the other metros.
A new Software Park,
TECHNOPOLIS, is being developed exclusively for the sector
and will be ready in April 2006.
More than a third of the exports from Cochin
SEZ are from the electronic hardware sector. The on-site Customs
clearances available round-the-clock, and the connections from
the seaport and airport make the Zone a natural choice for the
hardware sector. MAIT rates Cochin as one of the top 20
destinations for hardware operations in India. |
